How the blackjack strategy trainer works
Basic strategy is the mathematically best way to play every hand. Learning it takes practice, and this trainer gives you endless hands to practise on. Each round deals you two cards and shows one dealer card. Choose hit, stand, double, split or surrender and the trainer tells you at once whether you matched the basic strategy move.
It uses the same strategy as the Blackjack Calculator, including the dealer soft 17 rule, surrender and double after split. Use the hand type buttons to focus on hard totals, soft totals or pairs, which are the hands most people find hardest.
It is a practice tool only. No real money is involved on this website.

How does the blackjack strategy trainer work?
The trainer deals you a random two-card hand against a dealer up-card. You choose hit, stand, double, split or surrender, and it tells you straight away whether that was the basic strategy move. Your score and streak are shown so you can see yourself improve.
Which strategy is the trainer checking against?
It uses the same basic strategy as the Blackjack Calculator: a standard multi-deck chart with late surrender and a dealer who checks for blackjack. The chart changes with the table rules you choose, so set them to match the game you play.
What does Double mean when the answer says "otherwise hit"?
Some hands say double if the game allows it and hit if it does not. In the trainer you always start with a fresh two-card hand, so doubling is available and Double is the correct answer. The note shows what to do if you cannot double.
Why can I not choose Surrender?
Surrender is only offered by some games. It is switched off by default. Turn it on in the table rules if the game you play allows it.
Is my score saved?
Your score, streak and table rules are remembered in your browser on this device so they are there next time. Nothing is sent anywhere.
How long does it take to learn basic strategy?
Most people get the common hands right after a few short sessions. Practise the hands you miss most often, for example pairs or soft totals, using the hand type filter.
